Historia

Just two and half hours from Madrid airport, you will find yourself in the heart of Extremadura. It is one of the last remaining areas unchanged for generations in Western Europe, endowed with some of the continent's best birding. Thanks to traditional land use practice and an impressive diversity of habitats, you can see an extraordinary variety of birds. Important for the conservation of breeding populations of species like Black Vulture, Spanish Imperial Eagle, Lesser Kestrel, Great and Little Bustard, Black Stork and wintering concentrations of Common Crane, an incredible richness of raptors, and excellent for sought after species like Bonelli's Eagle, Black-winged Kite, Purple Swamphen, Pin-tailed and Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Red-necked Nightjar, Black Wheatear, Azure-winged Magpie…as well as other typical Iberian species. It is no wonder that this unspoilt area of Spain draws birders from around the world, a place which enthrals and people return to again and again.
