Historia

CASA SOLO is an architectural office established in Barcelona 25 years ago. The aim of CASA SOLO is to assure excellence in hospital design. Our experience includes a completed hospital’s building area of over 600,000 sqm and 4,000 beds. CASA SOLO is based in Barcelona, taking advantage of its “all-over-the-world” very well known design cluster.

We are in the group of small companies (ranging between 8 and 15 employees in Barcelona’s main office). Our work, of design and construction supervision, is based in collaboration with local offices, as it has been so far in all our work throughout Spain.

This is also our strategy in the internationalization process, initiated one year ago to balance our team design capacity. We have already established joint ventures in several of our objective countries, and we are intending to consolidate this type of collaboration in China. We had already, in several provinces, some contacts with public hospitals, local institutes and private companies. We look for clients and partners who have the same approach and passion for architecture as we have, trying to bring to the hospitals typology a new concept, and to convince local authorities of the benefits to make them appear to people, as the most appreciated buildings, as they were in the past centuries.

We are able to deal with any architectural typology, but our main field of specialization has been in health care buildings. CASA SOLO is ready to provide services to design new health care facilities and hospitals – either low or high rise - in the global context of present situation. Our previous and current experience makes us also very strong in the field of retrofit, reuse, and renewal of existing facilities. We offer our experience to any kind of clients, either in the private or in the public sector (P.P.P.). Our expertise also includes strategic and functional programming, as well as master plans.

New projects will be designed with BIM (Building Information Modelling) technology. This system allows generating and managing building data along its whole life cycle. It is a great leap forward in architectural computer aids in order to improve building maintenance.

Our projects have always been energy efficient. Sustainability is a new term, but was already inherent in Architecture, which has always provided answers to History and the Environment. Further, CASA SOLO has mastered solar energy applications and the intelligent use and management of water resources.
We are also efficient keeping our projects on cost and on time, matching the expectations of our clients. Good architecture mustn’t be more expensive, it deserves only more thinking in the design process. We strongly believe that innovation in design contributes to patient’s wellness and staff attraction to work in light, rewarding, and well designed health facilities.

CASA SOLO had previously collaborated on various projects with L35. Recently it has joined L35 Group as a department specialized in healthcare architecture. CASA SOLO brings his extensive experience in the healthcare sector to the international expansion of L35 Group.
