Historia

The Cortijo de Guerra is farm situated half way between the mountains of the Sierra de Cadiz, and the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. The land is a mix of pine forest, arable, and hilly pasture. It is great place to have a base for exploring the Andalusian countryside or to just relax in a truly rural environment.

When the owner's took over the farm in the mid 1900's, most of the farm's workers lived on the farm, which was self contained community with it's own school, shop, chapel, and even a bar. Now, most have moved to the nearby towns, and the owners have restored these cottages to make them comfortable for guests. The cottage is not 5 star luxury, but has everything to make your stay a very pleasant one. There is also a pool, a tennis court, cycle paths, and horses.

We are situated 12 kms from Puerto Real (nearest supermarket) and 20 kms from the picturesque white village of Medina Sidonia. Both of these towns have an ample choice of restaurants. 30kms north is Jerez and it's international airport.

The area has numerous bike paths for mountain biking and is not far from the beaches of Cadiz, Puerto Santa Maria, Santi Petri and La Barrosa where one can rent equipment for windsurf, paddle board, kite board, scuba diving and sailing.

If you let us know what kind of activities you'd like to do, we'd be happy to arrange them for you. This could be bike rental, horse riding, riding lessons or pointing you in the right direction to see a bull farm, sherry bodegas or flamenco in Jerez.

Finally, its worth noting that we live on a working farm where we grow vegetables, sunflower, wheat and organic vegetables. We have cows, chickens, horses and partridge in abundance.

The Cortijo is a great place to bring your kids to run around outside enjoying all that healthy farm life has to offer.
