The City of Dénia gained membership in the Creative Cities Network (in the category of Gastronomy) under the patronage of Unesco, in December 2015
Dénia is located at most eastern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, an its part of the Valencian Community, in Spain. The Mediterranean port sustains an ample space for traditional fishing (including a fresh fish market). The gastronomy and food production industries are the city’s main source of wealth and economic activity. The Mediterranean diet and concepts such as custody of the territory or slow food, inspire this development model that the city has imposed upon itself, associating culture, gastronomy, territory, local producers and chefs with the goal of generating new gastro-tourism opportunities and ensuring sustainable development.
