Sobre Nosotros The Pavilion may occasionally be closed to the public. Check Opening hours at: http://miesbcn.com/the-pavilion/general-information Historia The Fundació Mies van der Rohe was set up in 1983 with the aim of working towards the reconstruction of the Pavilion. Since the completion of the project, the Foundation, member of the International Confederation of Architectural Museums (ICAM), has been entrusted with the task of preserving and managing the Pavilion. The Foundation also focuses on fostering debate on contemporary architecture and urbanism, building a documentary archive on Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and on modern and contemporary architecture, and organising correlated awards, courses, lectures, exhibitions, publications and studies. "The Barcelona Pavilion, an emblematic work of the Modern Movement, has inspired the oeuvre of several generations of architects. Designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich as the German national pavilion for the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition. Built from glass, steel and different kinds of marble, it was conceived to accommodate the official reception presided over by King Alfonso XIII of Spain. In 1930, after the closure of the Exhibition, the Pavilion was disassembled. As time went by, it became a twentieth-century architecturekey point of reference. In 1983 the Barcelona City Council approved its reconstruction that was finished in 1986 at the same place by Ignasi de Solà-Morales, Cristian Cirici and Fernando Ramos."
