Gotarrendura is a municipality located in the province of Ávila, Castile and León, Spain. According to the 2011 census (INE), the municipality has a population of 173 inhabitants.It is known as the birthplace of the famous St. Teresa of Ávila (1515–1582).Architecture and cultureThe main buildings are the San Miguel Church, the Santa Teresa´s dovecote and the López Berrón ethnographic museum.Gotarrendura has won the International Award for Liveable Communities 2011 (Category A towns & cities popn up to 20,000) (award from the United Nations Environment Programme).
