Con tres trabajos discográficos propios en el mercado, “Tiempos de búsqueda” (New Mood Jazz 2008) y el segundo titulado ”Plan B” (Youkali Music 2010), “Saxual” (Youkali Music 2014) Iñaki se ha convertido en un músico de larga trayectoria, cuyo prestigio ya ha sido reconocido tanto por la prensa especializada como por los artistas con los que ha compartido escenario y/o colaborado.

Iñaki Arakistain nos abre a un concepto musical inédito hasta ahora en España realizado por un saxofonista, en el que conviven la música Groove, con influencias de música brasileña, Latin Funk, además de fusionar muy recientemente el Flamenco con dichos estilos, enriqueciendo así sus nuevos proyectos unidos por el lenguaje común del jazz.

En su faceta jazzística ha tocado y compartido escenario con músicos de la talla de: Jayme Marques, Miguel Blanco, Jerry González, Danilo Peréz, Sean Levitt, Mark Redford, Jean Marie Ekay, Benny Green, Lewis Nasch y muchos más; con grupos españoles como la Calle Caliente, Red House, Wagon Cookin, y al frente de sus propios grupos. Ha tocado en varios festivales de Jazz nacionales e internacionales en Francia, Portugal, Italia, España, Latinoamérica, etc… además realizó una gira por varios teatros en Finlandia con la cantante Patrica Kraus.

Ha impartido un seminario de jazz e improvisación en el Conservatorio Nacional de LA PAZ (BOLIVIA), organizado por la Embajada de España, finalizando con un concierto en el Teatro Nacional de LA PAZ. Ha colaborado en más de 200 discos además de haber realizado giras y conciertos con: Antonio Vega, Miguel Ríos Big Band, Orquesta Mondragón, Antonio Carmona, Azúcar Moreno, Tontxu, Tennesse, Raphael a parte de colaborar con Miguel Bosé, Ana Torroja, Enrique Bumbury, David Bisbal, Victor y Ana Belén con los que también grabó un disco DVD en directo en la Plaza de Toros de las Ventas junto a Raphael.

Es colaborador habitual como saxofonista en varios programas de TV, tocando música en directo con diferentes formaciones.
Ha realizado la gira de Raphael (50 Años Después, 2009/10), actuando en multitud de países como: EE.UU, México, Colombia, Argentina, Chile (Viña del Mar 2010), Puerto Rico, Rusia entre otros.

Tocando en escenarios tan emblemáticos como: MADISON SQUARE GARDEN (New york), JAMES L. KINGH (Miami), LUNA PARK (Buenos aires), COLISEO EL CAMPÍN (MEXICO DF), BARVIKHA CONCERT HALL (Moscú). Ha trabajado en varios musicales entre ellos el musical FOREVER KING OF THE POP (Tributo a Michael Jackson).

Versatile instrumentalist, quoted session musician and jazz musician to the core, the saxophonist IÑAKI ARAKISTAIN, in addition to sharing recordings and scenes with many of the most important musicians of the national jazz and commercial music, and even international, has managed to carve out a solid reputation in the Spanish jazz scene with their personal musical projects always intoxicated of Grooves and Funk essence in addition to very recently fused Flamenco with these styles, enriching their new projects as well.

A path that starts in 2008 with TIEMPOS DE BÚSQUEDA (New Mood Jazz), devout Declaration of jazz principles that mixes without complexes Hard Bop and Latin Jazz; continues in 2010 with PLAN B (Youkali Music) a work of overwhelming confirmation of Jazz Funk, Grooves and flavors from Brazil, and ends in 2014 with SAXUAL (Youkali Music), his third LP, recorded live, in one evening, to the old style. A new and exciting twist to the inexhaustible rhythmic impulse of Funk, with feet firmly in place at the original root and ear tuned to the sounds of the future. More beyond Acid Jazz and Downtempo and Jazz Fusion in different styles, in a territory in which very few musicians of our country faced with such self-confidence and authority.

The last album SAXUAL comprises six Arakistain originals and four instrumental covers. The journey begins with the dynamic Red Star and the in top form occurring main actor. The good flow is due to the great sax performance always ready to rise to peak exertion at the blink of an eye. The other musicians contribute to this through their perfect engagement. Iñaki approaches Bobby Hebb’s “Sunny” with a jazzy attitude and a great range of improvisation.

Michael Jackson’s Blame It On The Boogie grows seamlessly on the listener. Next from Michael’s repertoire is Rock With You. Amazing the flute intro and the sensitive sax interpretation which reveals a great respect for the melody. Certainly one of the best renditions of this popular song. Chemical offers an outstanding horn arrangement, which can concur with those of Tower of Power or East Bay Soul.

Jewish Incognita gives room for contemporary jazz and live recording. Nocturnal Beings presents smooth transitions in a flowing shape blending elements of contemporary and smooth jazz to an irresistible sound design. John Coltrane’s Countdown (Funky Version) is obviously a proof of integrity and completeness for jazz in its original art form with complex harmonic progression and substitute chords.

After this challenge to the listener it comes finally in the wake of Latin Jazz with Black Samba. Thrilling rhythm and professional music at the highest level. Saxual is an album that you should listen to in one go. It grabs you and takes you until the last note.
