Even when Sonja came to Mallorca in 1998, she had all sorts of "crazy" ideas in her luggage. She remembers:

"Here in Cala Santanyí I was the first German who began again to build with natural brick instead of the cheaper concrete blocks. I advised the local contractors quickly to switch to healthy natural brick, since the buyer will put more emphasis on quality in the future. Many have smiled at me when our own house grew like a red mushroom out of the earth. But it was not long, and more and more red "mushroom" joined them."
