Logroño is a city in northern Spain, on the Ebro River. It is the capital of the province of La Rioja.The population of the city in 2008 was 153,736 while the metropolitan area included nearly 197,000 inhabitants. The average annual temperature is 13.9°C. Although much infrequent, unusually low temperatures during the winter can drop to -5C, and as low as -10C; while daily high averages may exceptionally exceed the mark of 35C in a particularly hot summer. The average annual precipitation is about 400mm, regularly spread over the whole year: from 20mm–25mm in drier periods to the 45mm-50mm range in the rainiest.
