Los Alcazares Murcia is a beautiful small town located in the province of Murcia in the Costa Calida region of Spain. Murcia is considered the 11th largest metropolitan area in Spain and is treated as one of the best tourist destinations in the world. The Romans were occupying Los Alcazares during the era of 210 B.C. They loved this city for all the salt properties located along the beach strips. They setup a salt meat and fishing industry, and also built the first thermal baths and spas in the area. The 6th century saw the Arabs building their palaces in this area because of all the old Roman spas located here. The year 1245 saw the Christians who were led by Fernando III of Castilla arriving and forcing the Arabs to flee from the area.
Los Alcazares has some of the exotic beaches in the Murcian region. The Mar Menor beach strip stretches from Los Alcazares to San Javier with a surface area of close upon 170 Km2. It has a coastal length of nearly 70 Km and about 7 m depth of clear and warm water. It is considered the "largest natural swimming pool in the world" by famous swimmers in the world. The city is a well known maritime resort for families from Murcia during weekends.
Los Alcazares has some of the best golf courses in close proximity. The Mar Menor Golf and Spa Resort is a five-star international resort in Los Alcazares.
