Masia Sumidors is a 400 year old Catalunyan farmhouse, that has been converted into a rustic, rural retreat just a 10 minute drive from Sitges.

Historia

As the busy streets of Barcelona are replaced with the singing birds in the hills above Sitges, Masia Sumidors is an idyllic retreat in the heart of Catalonian wine country.
As you turn off the C-15B just past Carnivor Restaurant, you are immediately passing by vineyards that have been tended to for hundreds of years, the farmers carefully manicuring the landscape into yawning terraces and winding tracks that still produce some of the finest grapes for the famed Cava of the region.
Upon arrival, you will be met by the sight of date palms, figs, satsumas and passion fruit blossoms and a view that extends all the way to the Mediterranean.
The beauty of the approach is matched by the building itself which has stood for around 400 years. Thick walls and a pleasant breeze means the interior is always cool and once inside the period decor of the masia really stands out. Original pieces of Valenti furniture adorn the breakfast room and the same continues throughout the property, be it a dresser here a table there, the feeling of being transported to a bygone era grows by the second.
The rooms are, once again, adorned with Valenti pieces, yet are individually styled with tasteful attention made to highlight the age and beauty of the building.
There is a bar with MP3 connectivity, WiFi coverage and comfy sofas and also a covered area where delicious barbecued meals are served from the kitchen during the evening.
The food is centred around the barbeque with sweet and savoury chicken , glazed pork and chorizo and thick steaks all washed down with some of the finest paired wines from the Penedes region.
The landscaped poolside gives a sub-tropical feel while the chatter of birds and the hum of bees play a soundtrack supported by the applause of leaves as the sea breeze travels through the forest. Meanwhile the pool is a pleasant 23 (73.4) degrees and climbing and is the ideal way to cool down before once again taking in the absolute splendour of Masia Sumidors. A truly inspiring place.
